Research Interests:
Dr. Bozadjieva Kramer’s research efforts leverage both basic and translational science towards a better understanding of the critical factors behind metabolic dysfunction. The Kramer lab’s primary research interests lie in the pancreas-gut-liver axis, understanding the roles enterohepatic and nutrient signaling play in obesity, comorbidities (Type 2 diabetes, MASLD/MASH) and how these change after rapid weight loss (diet, pharmacological or metabolic surgery-induced weight loss). These projects employ extensive metabolic techniques including surgical, molecular, pharmacological, and physiological expertise in rodent models.
Dr. Bozadjieva-Kramer studied under Dr. Ernesto Bernal-Mizrachi at University of Michigan and University of Miami during her PhD studies. Dr. Kramer completed her postdoctoral training with Dr. Randy Seeley at the University of Michigan. She is a recipient of a Veterans Affairs Career Development Award, and she has received fellowship and research grant support from University of Michigan Pediatric Endocrinology Training Program (PETP), Obesity Surgery Scientist Training Program (Department of Surgery), Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR) Program in Translation Science Program, the University of Michigan Center for Gastrointestinal Research (UMCGR) and the Michigan Nutrition and Obesity Center (MNORC).
